What else can we learn from our girl Beyonce besides the latest dance move or hair weave?
Hey Cupcakes,
We all have many sides to us. Hopefully for the people around us those sides are hormonally compatible. I am writing today I praise of purposefully split personalities.
Performer Beyonce Knowles has had quite a year, pulling off a secret wedding to her long time love, rapper Jay Z, shining in the film Cadillac Road as songstress Etta James, and recording 75 songs to find the best for her latest chart-topping album I Am Sasha Fierce. Phew!
According to Beyonce, Sasha Fierce “is the fun, more sensual, aggressive, outspoken and glamorous side that comes out when I’m working and when I’m on the stage. This alter ego that I’ve created that kind of protects me and who I really am.”
Many celebs have alter egos, that’s why they are often completely different people when we meet them in person. This is natural. We all play different roles in life. Are you the exact same person around your friends as you are with your family? Probably not. You’ve got alter egos and multiple personalities. So how can you put this new multiple personality awareness to positive use in your life?
Glad you asked, gorgeous!
Often we hold ourselves back from taking our rightful place in the center stage of our lives because we are afraid of stretching beyond our boundaries. If we can muster up the slightest bit of courage, just enough to take one step forward, that can be a tremendous start. For example, maybe you have been terrified about asking your company for a new position. You don’t have to be the one to address the boss. Find your empowering alter ego who handles such things and then ROAR.
You might be delighted to know that it’s not me, your friend Abiola, giving you this advice. It’s the Goddess of Love, self-love. She just looks like me.
Your Motivational Homework:
Let your uplifting alter ego shine. Notice I said UPLIFTING alter ego. I am not referring to some Winona-esque alter ego that wants to take you shop lifting. If you are too afraid to ask for a date, an apology, or promotion, let your alter ego do it. If you need to break up with someone, let your alter ego shine. I for one will be allowing my long time alter ego, Ms. Lola, go dancing on the tables tonight at Bungalow 8 and that’s ok!
Dream bigger, dahlings, and of course, love yourself. Wink-wink.
xo,
Abiola
