50 Cent and Kelly Rowland star in Baby By Me Music Video.
50 Cent's "Have a Baby By Me; Be a Millionaire" almost ties for ick factor pick up lines with R. Kelly's "Let's Go Half on a Baby" -- although clearly R. Kelly wins any gross-out contest because of his alleged pedo-lifestyle. Now, it's no secret that I have a serious grown woman crush on 50 Cent aka Mr. Curtis Jackson that belies any logic or explanation. It's a grown woman crush because it still allows me to be adult enough to call him out for violence and misogyny, and to Jersey fist pump when I like what I see.
With all of that stated for the record I must say that I love 50 Cent's music video for Baby By Me featuring Kelly Rowland for the following reasons:
1) Kelly Rowland. You know how thirsty we are as women with brown skin to see ourselves reflected in contemporary pop culture and media as an object of adoration and desire? Note, this is totally different than as an object of lust or sassy contempt. Julia Roberts is an adored and desired. The next step is not to be an object at all but let's not get ahead of of ourselves. There is usually a paper bag colored glass ceiling in most urban music videos and hip hop and sports relationships period. Bravo for 50 Cent for asking Kelly Rowland to play his beautiful love interest.
2) Chris Robinson presented a sweet love story that included a family of identical beautiful children for the fantasy coupling of Kelly Rowland and 50 Cents that was enjoyable to live in as a viewer for 4 minutes.
3) Speaking of objects, we have no problem admitting that we freely objectify Mr. Cent whenever possible. This video is gorgeous. Kelly and 50 make a visually appealing couple and we're on the fantasy ride with them until Kelly's character's real baby daddy appears with a rickety stroller and child to take her back to real life.
Well done all!
