Ashley Madison, the dating service for cheaters has a new twist on its tabloid commercial. To be honest with you, civil libertarian that I am, although I find the agency personally repugnant, I would fight for their right to exist. Their motto is "life is short, have an affair." Yep.
Anyway, I personally found the Maury Povitch like commercial (below) offensive because, let's face it as a chocolate woman I am so over seeing chocolate women depicted in cartoonish ways everywhere from African American television to commercials like this one. However, this commercial is about cheating, not race, and the intention was to parody people we've all seen on shows like Cheaters who appear to be parodying themselves.
My main wish is that adults would stop fooling themselves into one size fits all marriages and put Ashley Madison out of business. That's not happening any time soon so Noel Biderman, founder of Ashley Madison will continue to rake in the cash. His last great PR stunt was to offer Tiger Woods $10 Million to come on board as a spokesperson for Ashley Madison. Hilarious, actually.
Now Ashley Madison has painted the women in their ad blue as an Avatar parody but ABC has banned the ad from the Oscars. Oh, come on ABC, really? Yes, the ad is stupid and the company is offensive and ruins lives. We can say that about millions of companies in the fattest country in the world. Like potato chips and pizza. Loosen up, ABC, it's the Oscars, not a religious ceremony.
Watch the Ashley Madison commercial and judge for yourself.
