Abiola on Love, Sex, Dating: # 16: Good Girls vs Bad Girls; NSFW (VIDEO)

Abiola on LSD: Love, Sex, Dating and Drama, episode 16 was a wild ride!! There was a crazy tornado happening so the studio was literally falling apart around us. As I was talking into the camera our incredible team was running around trying to make sure the equipment and studio held on.

Luckily we had pretty fascinating guests who could roll with the punches. Our theme was Good Girls vs. Bad Girls. The super fun guests were noted Sex Blogger Calendar creators Debauched Diva and Urban Gypsy PLUS Yvette Hayward, creator of the African American Literary Awards. It was fun yapping about scandalous hot topics with all of these powerful women as I was in the Sex Blogger Calendar and I hosted the Literary Awards Show last week.

Warning – this episode is definitely not safe for work because there is a MAJOR sexy “MILF Wardrobe Malfunction.” Subscribe to the sexy podcast on iTunes, find the Abiola on Love, Sex, Dating Show Archives, and WATCH the video below!

Scandalous Potluck Dinner Party Idea: How to Throw A Sinner’s Dinner #sindin

[Sin Din Photo by German Marin]

Picture a co-ed bachelorette party with delicious food and drinks. Potluck style means everyone brings something to eat or drink.

Related Posts with ThumbnailsPotluck Dinner Parties are a fantastic way of recession entertaining. This past weekend a few of my friends visited my flat in Harlem for an official Sinner’s Dinner (#sindin) and Potluck.  Check it out!

Guests: Invite only sexy free spirits! Then obviously you also need people capable of being embarrassed. That’s what makes it fun.

When I was younger I used to feel that parties were about quantity and I would throw these huge extravaganzas. Now I know that it’s all about quality, non quantity. I choose a handful of wonderful and positive people who nourish my soul: Kristal Mosley, producer and on camera talent for the Abiola on LSD show, Twanna Hines the Funky Brown Chick, Yolanda Shoshana, the Modern Courtesan, Nando Rodriguez of Nandoism, Katie of Lost Plum, tech writer Sherri Smith, photographer German Marin and comic Kyle Bostick.

Location & Decor: Our party theme was Sinner’s Dinner so I chose bachelorette party-like decor items like a Penis Party Tray and beaver plates. Vanilla candles by Glade for under 5 bucks!

Food: Yummy food is key to a good time at a potluck dinner. We were blessed to have too much food! Twanna brought $200 worth of free drinks from TGIFriday’s including delicious mudslides, Nando cooked up chorizo pasta, Shoshi brought bread, yams and popcorn, Sherri made beef and broccoli, and Kristal brought salad and platters.

Did I just mention the TGIF Cocktails before the food!! Only because the TGI Fridays Mudslides were my fave. The drinks are pre-mixed and you just add ice. Good job, Twanna!

I made barbecued chicken, of course.

Party Favors & Prizes: We didn’t have any formal party favors but Nando brought swag from Fashion Week, Shoshi brought her Honeymoon Heat and Modern Courtesan fragrance samples, Twanna brought the booze from TGIF, and I gave out goodies from our friends at AdultSexToys.com and copy of Zane’s new book The Hot Box. Wait, I guess that we had plenty of party favors!

Music: My playlist included Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Pink, Prince, Rick James and Beyonce. And I’m still dancing!

Games: The best part of the Sinners Dinner is sharing embarrassing stories – about yourself or each other. I could tell you what was said, but then we’d have to kill you! Or at least bash you with a Penis Party Tray…

Hosting the African American Literary Awards: What the Heck Was I Wearing?

Abiola & Real Girl Curves vs. the Supermodel
I was honored to be the 2010 host for the 6th Annual African American Literary Awards in New York City. The Awards are about honoring authors and publishers. This year we honored Dr. Cornel West, Sonia Sanchez, Terrie Williams and Hill Harper but many of you have been emailing me to ask about my dress…
My literary awards show gown was designed by Erica Davies for her defunct high end line and it cost $1250.00 at Dash, the Kardashians’ Calabasas, California store. Yes, they hooked me up with a super-sweet discount. My favorite thing about this dress? It’s so long that I wore flat $5 sandals from a dollar store under it and no one knew the difference. Erica Davies now has a low price QVC line of everyday stuff but no more “ready to wear couture” unfortunately.

The dress also comes in the short version on the left.

RANDOM LITERARY AWARDS FASHION DIARY TIDBITS

I felt so “well moisturized,” read oily, that night! :-) I had Moroccan Oil in my hair and Carol’s Daughter oil on my skin. I smelled good, but in retrospect it was a wee bit too much!!

My personal oil slick skin & hair care prep! :-)

I hung the dress temporarily on my dress form so that I can enjoy it!

My Dash, Calabasas dress

The $5.00 flip flop sandals I wore because my gown was long enough to cover my feet and I knew I’d be standing for 3 or 4 hours!

Emergency Gladiator $5 Sandals!

Literary Awards Recap: 6th Annual African American Literary Awards

6th Annual African American Literary Awards Recap.

I have had the honor of hosting the African American Literary Awards for the past five years of its six year history. Awards creator Yvette Hayward and East West PR’s Joy Doss recruited me for the unique literary awards show as I was getting started hosting the BET short film competition. Once again heavy hitters from Ebony Magazine to the New York Daily News were on hand to support the African American Literary Awards. This year was definitely my favorite.

Most Memorable Literary Awards Show Moments (for Me)

1) Cornel West. We all know when we’re in the presence of greatness. This year’s show honored Sonia Sanchez, Cornel West, Hill Harper and Terrie Williams. I’d met all of the other nominees but I had never met Dr. Cornel West. I’m still a geek at heart so pop stars be damned. I had no butterflies when interviewing Chris Rock but Cornel West, Gloria Steinem, bell hooks, Eve Ensler, thump thump thump. We received a fantastic lecture that evening about personal power. Bravo!

2) Sonia Sanchez.
What else is there to say? Even in my flat flip flops carefully hidden under my gown I towered physically over this diminutive powerhouse but NO ONE towers over this literary giant, this mistress of words, and bender of emotions. Crone power is lost in our society. We don’t honor our elders enough. Sonia Sanchez, we thank you.

2) Actors and African American Literary Award Winners Sherri Shepherd and Hill Harper couldn’t make it to the show because they were both filming in Los Angeles but were kind enough to send fun video speeches saying, thank you.

3) Dawn Richard from Diddy’s Dirty Money and Danity Kane and Beverly Bond brought beauty and grace to the stage in my favorite fashion moments.

4) Terrie Williams was introduced by Oprah author Wes Moore in a powerful moment. If you don’t know who Terrie Williams is, do your research about this caring publicist, author and humanitarian. Several other authors also spoke about Terrie’s generosity and love for others.

5) Carol Mackey of Black Expressions received a round of applause from the authors in the audience. She has supported so many people over the years. I know that Carol was a big supporter of my novel Dare. Check out her new book Sistergirl Devotions.

Fun Dating Ideas: The Chip Shop in Park Slope, Brooklyn (VIDEO)

Here’s a creative Lifestyle Passionista-approved dating idea perfect for both first dates and date night for married folks; tourists and New Yorkers. Grab your favorite sweets, head over to The Park Slope Chip Shop, and ask them to fry it up. Obviously this is not the date night idea for those with high blood pressure, cholesterol, or calorie counters.

Before you say, yes, America, this is why we’re fat, consider that The Park Slope Chip Shop is owned by British expats. They fry everything from Twinkies and pineapples to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. You bring it, they’ll fry it.
The Park Slope Chip Shop is located at 383 Fifth Avenue in Brooklyn, New York. Give them a ring at 718-CHIPSHOP. They also serve full English breakfast, wine and British beer. The Park Slope Chip Shop is open daily until 10pm, 11pm on Saturdays. Dress is casual. Grab your sweetie and go.
