Is the guy you’re dating the one or just another toad? If you have a love rant you’d like to share, get in touch…
[dropcap]W[/dropcap]e goddesses may not know exactly what they want all of the time but we have a pretty good idea of what we’re looking for. By the time you get to an age where you’re looking to settle down you’ve probably got a rough idea of the kind of man you’d like to marry or stay with for the foreseeable future and the only way you get to know your likes and dislikes is by dating. Dates are there to get to know each other and if you’re looking for a long term relationship they’re essential in order to find out if you are suitable for each other and what are the chances of you two making it last.
When you’ve gotten through a handful of dates you should already know if you guys click, if you have a mutual attraction and whether you have similar senses of humor. These are things you’ll know from your first initial meeting which invariably leads to date number two.
Here is where you can find out more about them in terms of their values and beliefs, if they have the same interests and want the same things out of life as yourself and how they view and prioritize their work, home life, family and friends.
Subsequent dates merely establish more of a connection and give you a better, more rounded view of the other person. For example, if at date number two you believe you have great physical attraction, he wants to explore Southern Asia like you do and he’s in the same wage bracket as yourself it might seem that he’s ticked all the boxes you were looking for.
But then it gets to date number seven and he starts talking about how annoying his mom is being and that she’s always calling him and goes into detail about an argument they had where he called her a few names and now they’re not speaking and you start to think ‘wow, does he have no respect for his own family?’
Then it’s date number nine and he mentions that he’s thinking about moving to Italy in the near future to coach a basketball team and that him and his buddies have always wanted to move to Vegas and that he has a pet tarantula who he spends more time than can be deemed normal with.
This would be the time where you weigh up what you’re willing to compromise on and what simply isn’t going to work. Don’t feel you have to go into dating someone with a list full of criteria but do know what you will and won’t stand for and what is an absolute must for you.
Sometimes you’ve just gotta be ruthless!
